NAARM launches Agri Udaan Initiative in Kolkata

National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) today launched Agri Udaan, a food and agribusiness accelerator here to help agri-entrepreneurs to ideate, incubate and accelerate their startups.

NAARM is taking the initiative with the help of its own innovative Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Association for Innovation Development of Entrepreneurship in Agriculture (a-IDEA), hosted by ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Vijay Nadiminti, COO of a-IDEA NAARM said.

Its mission is to support agribusiness and technology ventures through capacity building and facilitating access to knowledge and resources.

To promote and spread awareness about a-IDEA in Maharashtra, NAARM has announced road-shows in Kolkata for the startup ecosystem in Food and Agri business which is witnessing consistent growth in last few years, he said.
 

Nadiminti expressed satisfaction with the overall response for Agri Udaan.

"The road show in Kolkata has helped us to connect with aspiring start-ups, entrepreneurs, students and global eco system players to be part of this exciting journey.

The initiative has opened up with interesting sessions from industry speakers, agri-Business firms, also successful start-ups speaking about their journey so we are hopeful that we get good number of applications from aspiring start-ups to scale from Kolkata," he said.

To tap startups based in and around Kolkata, NAARM targeted to reach out to 10 agriculture startups.

Through the road shows NAARM aimed to reach out to agri-startups in the local ecosystems with a series of aspiring talks and sensitize them about AGRI UDAAN with the help of ecosystem partners, he added.
