NABARD to help form producers' organisations in Odisha

Apart from providing financial assistance of over Rs 10,000 crore to the state during the ongoing fiscal, the NABARD has agreed to help implementation of watershed projects and formation of producers' organisations in Odisha.

S K Kale, chief of Odisha Regional Office of NABARD said this in a statement after meeting Odisha's Chief Secretary and bank authorities here today.

Stating that NABARD had provided Rs 8,400 crore financial assistance the state government and banks in the 2015-16 fiscal, Kale said the assistance was extended to facilitate on-lending to farmers, creation of rural infrastructure in the form of roads, bridges and irrigation structures.
 

During the last three years, NABARD has expanded its wings and has been able to touch the lives of rural people under the guidance of Kale, the statement said.

Kale also assured that NABARD would continue to supplement the efforts of the state government in the days to come.
