Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will inaugurate two new patient care facilities at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research here on January 24.

Nadda, who is also president of the institute, will inaugurate Robotic Assisted Surgical Facility and Image Guided Radiation Therapy Facility at the centre, the hospital spokesperson said here today.

Robotic Assisted Surgery Facility in the Department of Urology is the only such facility North of Delhi, the spokesman added.

The Robotic Assisted Surgery offers the benefit of enhanced precision and meticulousness of tissue dissection and suturing with the help of three dimensional vision of the operative field with 10 times magnification.

The unique advantage to the patients are minimum blood loss (eliminating the need for blood transfusion), minimum post operative pain (as surgery is done through key holes), early post operative recovery with minimum hospital stay and early resumption of normal activity.

The Minister will also chair the Institute Body Committee meeting, the spokesman said.
