Nadda to lay foundation stone for Mangalagiri AIIMS on Dec 19

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda would lay the foundation stone for the upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri near here on December 19, Andhra Pradesh government said today.

The Union Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 1,618 crore for the establishment of the super speciality hospital spread over 193 acres of land, state Health Minister Dr K Srinivas told reporters here.

The AIIMS at Mangalagiri would consist of a 100-seat UG medical college, a PG medical college and a Research Center, he said, adding that it will be operational in three years.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh cabinet today decided to bring in a sanitation policy to be implemented in 76 major hospitals across the state, he said.
 

Under the new sanitation policy, great care would be taken on sanitation and hygiene in all the 76 hospitals. Besides, segregation of biomedical waste and rodent control would be properly implemented, he said.

Srinivas further said that the cabinet also decided to recruit 500 doctors for Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

The government has decided to appoint gynaecologists and pediatricians for all PHCs in the state, he added.
