Terming the Naga peace accord as a "big achievement" of its government, BJP today said it was reflective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "ek Bharat shreshth Bharat (One India, great India)" motto and top priority the party accords to north east region's development.

"The successful resolution of the Naga problem is a big achievement of the NDA government. It is a milestone in realising Modiji's dream of 'ek Bharat, shreshth Bharat'," BJP chief Amit Shah said in a statement.

Noting that the north east region was on top among BJP's priorities, he said the accord would establish peace in the states in the region which would create an atmosphere for education and investment, paving the way for prosperity.

With an aim of ending the longest-running insurgency in Nagaland, the Centre had yesterday signed an accord with key outfit NSCN(IM) which Prime Minister Narendra Modi described as a "historic" step to usher in peace in the state.
