Counting of votes for Northern Angami-II Assembly bye-election will be held on October 20 as October 19 being a Sunday is a day of worship for Christians and Nagaland has a sizable Christian population.

The decision to change the date was taken after some organisations including the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), had appealed the Election Commission to defer the date for counting of votes for the October 15 bye-election, as October 19 is a Sunday.

The EC through its September 22 notification changed the date to October 20, Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen said in a statement issued here today.
