Nagaland Chief Secy and DGP retire

Two top officials of Nagaland - the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) today retired from their respective services on superannuation.

Senior IAS officer of 1977 batch, Banuo Z Jamir retired as Chief Secretary while Assam-Meghalaya 1978 IPS officer Besesayo Kezo retired as the DGP.

Serving in different capacities as the administrative officer of the state, Jamir had taken over as Chief Secretary on February 1 succeeding her husband Alemtemshi Jamir.

Official sources said Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Toshi Aier, would take over as the new Chief Secretary tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Kezo joined as Assam-Meghalaya cadre in 1978 and served with the Meghalaya Police in various capacities till his deputation to Nagaland in November 2012 as DG Prisons and Home Guards.
 

He was promoted as DGP Nagaland in January 2013.

Outgoing DGP Kezo handed over charge to Additional DGP (Operations) and DG Prisons, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Lungriading, until appointment of a new DGP.
