Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang has called upon the people of the state to collectively work for a peaceful and progressive year and look forward to positive changes and harmony within the society.

"2016 be a year charts out our dreams into a reality of long lasting peace in the land of Nagas," Zeliang said in his New Year message here last night.

Nagas should continue to maintain harmony and tranquillity among themselves and with neighbours while remembering that peace was essential for the state to progress and be on par with the rest of the world, he said.

Zeliang called upon various NGOs, tribal Hohos, organisations and common people to contribute in maintaining peace in the state and continue to work towards bringing the Naga Political Groups together.

The Chief Minister urged the people to be environmentally conscious and work towards keeping Nagaland Green by 2020.
