Nagaland DGP asks cops to dedicate themselves for people

Nagaland Director General of Police Lungriading Zeliang today called upon every cop to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the people.

Police personnel should sincerely work to protect the people, which would be the true tribute to the brave martyrs' who had laid down their lives during duty, Zeliang said while addressing the police officials on the occasion of 52nd Police Commemoration Day Parade at New Police Reserve here.

He said October 21 every year is observed as Police Commemoration across the country as a mark of respect to the brave police martyrs who had laid down their lives during the from October 1 to September 31 every year.
 

He said the number of police personnel killed was 662 including one Nagaland police during the period of 1-9-2013 to 31-8-2014.

DGP also narrated the history of Commemoration day traces back to October 21, 1959, when a patrol CRPF, led by SI Karam Singh, was ambushed by the Chinese forces at Hot springs Ladakh and 10 jawans were killed.
