Nagaland gets its Emergency Operation Centre

Nagaland today got the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), which will be the nerve of the state's Disaster Management Authority.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, today inaugurated the SEOC at the Old Assembly Secretariat complex.

The SEOC'S role is to provide a central location from which the government at any level can provide inter-agency coordination and prompt executive decision making for effective incident response.

Meanwhile, the chief minister today laid the foundation stone of the first-ever Nagaland Medical College and Tertiary Cancer Hospital at Phriebagie under Kohima village.

The college will come up on 145 acres of land at a projected cost of Rs 189-crore while a budget of Rs 45-crore has been set up for the Cancer Hospital.
 

The hospital will have a 200-bed capacity while the College will provide seats for 100 students, out of which 45 will be reserved for students from the state.
