When the opposition Congress members raised the issue of demand of contractors for release of their pending bills on the opening day of the short duration assembly session, the chief minister said that the genuineness of the unpaid bills needed to be checked as they included bills pending for last 30 to 40 years.

Rio also read out a letter issued by the Governor which asked the Chief Minister to proceed with investigation of doubtful bills.

He sought the cooperation of the opposition members in probing the bills which are to be taken up by the SIT and informed that in case the SIT fails to investigate the case, the Government will not hesitate to invite a CBI probe.

Demanding the government to release their pending bills, the contractors and suppliers launched a series of agitations in the state for past couple of months.
