The National Peoples' Party (NPP) on Wednesday filed a missing complaint of its candidate O Tinu Longkumer, who has filed nomination to contest the by-poll to the 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency.

NPP Mokokchung president I Bendang Jamir has lodged an FIR, stating that Longkumer has been missing since Tuesday.

Jamir also expressed fear that its candidate might have been abducted.

SP Mokokchung, Raghumarajan A, however, said police has been able to establish contact with Longkumer, who claimed that he is "safe and would be reaching the constituency by tomorrow (Thursday)".

The FIR has not yet been withdrawn, the SP said.

Besides Longkumer, three other candidates have filed nominations to contest the by-poll to the 26-Aonglenden seat.

Longkumer is the younger brother of the late Imtikumzuk Longkumer, whose demise in September 2018 necessitated the by-poll.
