Rape accused former Rajasthan minister Babu Lal Nagar today gave the slip to a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team waiting at his residence to collect blood sample for medical examination, as they were told by the family that he has gone to Shirdi in Maharashtra.

The team of CID, which served three notices on Nagar directing him to remain available for medical examination, kept waiting at his residence here, only to be told that he has gone to Shirdi, department sources said.

Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) authorities have also sought blood sample of Nagar to carry out its investigation.

Later, his son Ravi claimed that Nagar was not escaping medical examination and will make himself available once he returns.

"My father left for Shirdi and will be able for medical examination as soon as he returns. He is not escaping medical examination. He will be available for any probe," he said.

Ravi, however, did not divulge any further detail about when is the former minister expected to return.

53-year-old Nagar resigned last week following an FIR against him by a 35-year-old woman, who alleged that she was raped by the former minister at his official bungalow on September 11 on the pretext of giving her a job.

The state government has recommended CBI inquiry into the case and has written to the Centre in this regard.
