Ghaziabad Mayor Teluram Kamboj today said no money will be released from the Nagar Nigam's infrastructure development fund for the Ghaziabad Metro Rail project.

"Nagar Nigam Ghaziabad will not shell out a single penny out of Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) for Ghaziabad Metro Rail project," he told reporters.

The Mayor said IDF is only meant for the development of the city as this fund is generated by levying two per cent extra charge at the time of registry of houses, flats and plots in Ghaziabad by the Registrar.

Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Vice Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav has assured that a payment of Rs 138 crore will be made to the Nagar Nigam against its land acquired by the GDA.

The Mayor said, from this amount the Nigam is ready to give its share of money towards the Metro Project and a resolution on this issue was passed in its Board meeting.

Kamboj will meet state urban development minister Azam Khan along with his councilors after Dusherra festival asking the minister to release the IDF as it has been credited to the UP Government treasury from Stamp and Registration department, District Magistrate (Ghaziabad) Vimal Kumar Sharma said.
