Soon after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and about 25 leaders of various parties discussed a range of issues, including functioning of Parliament and judiciary, role and responsibilities of MPs, for around half an hour.
When Modi accompanied by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi and Leader of House Thawar Chand Gehlot came to Naidu's chamber, several leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Ram Gopal Yadav, Satish Chand Mishra, Derek O'Brien, T K Rangarajan, Naresh Gujral and S R Subramanian joined them.
The leaders expressed happiness over the productive Rajya Sabha session.
Noting that the improved interaction between the government and the opposition had enabled a good budget session, Naidu stressed on the need for regular and enhanced coordination between the two for sustaining the improved productivity of the Upper House, sources said.
He also urged the leaders to advice MPs of respective parties against rushing into the Well of the House, they said.

The prime minister stressed on the need for the members of Parliament to be sensitive to the public perception about them.
The sources said Modi observed that people are closely watching the words and deeds of MPs and they need to conduct themselves in a responsible manner so that the public does not raise questions about their conduct and their entitlements. He referred to the criticism in some sections about the subsidised canteen facility for MPs.
The leaders also briefly touched upon the functioning of the judiciary and the need to discuss the same in Parliament.
