The mortal remains of Naik Shankar Chandrabhan Shinde, who got martyred in encounter with terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir's Kupwara district on February 13, were today consigned to flames with full state honors at his native Bhayale village in the district.
Shinde was among the two soldiers who died fighting the militants in Kupwara, wherein five Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were also killed.
He was accorded full military honors, including gun salute as Army personnel sounded the bugle.

Earlier, Shinde's body was brought to his village from Deolali camp, where the martyr's family members, relatives, various government and police officials, Army men and hundreds of villagers paid floral tributes to him.
He is survived by his parents, wife and two children.
