Naina Devi-Anandpur Sahib Ropeway project to be executed soon

The decision was taken at a meeting between chief secretaries of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh-- Rakesh Singh and Sudripto Roy.

The Rs 100-crore project has been hanging fire for nearly three decades.

The chief secretaries of both the partners states discussed various issues pertaining to the project which has great religious significance for both Hindus and Sikhs and decided that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the peoject be signed at the North Zone Interstate Council meeting slated to be held in Chandigarh on July 13.

A proposal to create a special multipurpose vehicle for tackling all issues related to the ropways project was also finalised.

 

Under the project, 3700 m-long ropeway with base point at Anandpur Sahib and landing point at Sri Naina Devi with one halting point in between would be constructed and ten to twelve towards would be created.

The ropeways would reduce the distance between two religious places by nearly 40 kms.
