Nalco's goods train derails in Odisha's Koraput district

At least two wagons of a goods train carrying alumina powder of Nalco on Tuesday derailed between Liliguma and Bhalumusa in Odisha's Koraput district, affecting the movement of other trains on the Koraput-Rayagada route, officials said.

There was no report of injury or death of anybody in the incident, they said.

The DRM, Waltier has ordered an officer-level inquiry into the accident, as this was the second such incident in three days.

Fifteen wagons of another goods train of Nalco had derailed at Damonjodi railway station on September 9.

Tuesday's incident took place at about 1830 hours, the officials said, adding, relief trains were rushed to the accident site from Rayagada and Koraput.

 

The line is likely to be restored by 11 pm, they said.

Due to the derailment, the Hirakhand Express has been diverted via Koraput/Araku/Kotavalsa towards Viziangaram, and the Rourkela Express is controlled at Tikiri, the officials added.
