Namakkal combine wins open class car rally

: Maheshwaran and M K Mustafa combine of Namakkal emerged champions in the open class segment of the 17th Chander Memorial Rally, a FMSCI National event here today.

Organised by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, the event witnessed the participation of 22 cars, comprising 12 in the open class, eight in the novice and one in all ladies class.

In the two wheeler category, there were 15 entries, comprising eight bikes in the open class and seven in the novice class in two-wheeler category.

R Angamuthu/Veerakumar won the two wheeler open class, while the combine of V Vimal/Ezhil Anirudhan won the novice class.
 

The rally was flagged off at 9 AM by V C Arukutty, MLA, at Kavundampalayam, passed through seven villages along the 125 km route and finished at around 1 PM.

It was run on Time Speed Distance (TSD) basis, with the average speed varying from 15 to 45 kmph, based on the safety and road conditions.

Results: Open class: 1. N Maheshwaran/M K Mustafa, 2. M D Ganeshamoorthy/T Nagarajan; 3 Karthik Maruthi/Sankar Anand

Novice Class: 1 Anish Krishna/Adeeth, 2. R Ramesh/G Pradeep; 3. Gopalakrishnan/ M Vignesh.

All Ladies Class: 1. Preetha Raj/K Rajeshwari

Two-Wheeler: Open: 1. R Angamuthu /Veerakumar; 2. Tamilselvan/Chandran; 3. A Vinodh/N Murugan.

Novice Class: 1. V Vimal/Ezhil Anirudhan; 2. Anadhakumar/V Balakumar; 3. K S Rajesh Kannan/Sathish Shyamkumar.
