Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today warned that the government would publish names of those defaulting in repaying loans borrowed from cooperative banks if they did not do so by mid April.
In a WhatsApp message to mediapersons, she said borrowers should be given notice to pay up by this month end or at the maximum, the middle of April. Or else, the list of the names of defaulters would be published, she said.
"We cannot go on protecting people who have stolen poor man's public money," the Lt Governor said.
Bedi's directions came after her discussions with officials of Puducherry State Cooperative Bank on March 12
She contended that such a step would help ensure that the Non Performing Assets fall fast.
