Narcotics worth Rs 3 crore seized, Drug smuggler arrested

A Nigerian drug smuggler nicknamed Baba Don was arrested and narcotics worth Rs 3 crore was today seized from his rented accommodation in Mahavir Enclave area here by a team of Special Cell of Delhi Police.

"Baba Don absconding after arrest of his associates, was caught from his home in Mahavir Enclave and narcotics including 1.5 Kg Hashish and 1 Kg Amphetamine estimated to be worth Rs 3 crore in international market, were recovered from him, said Rajiv Ranjan, DCP of Special Cell of Delhi Police.

Three members of his gang were already arrested by Special Cell and 2 kg heroin was recovered from them in June this year, the DCP said.
 

Baba Don was earlier arrested by Delhi Customs in 2002 for possessing 1.6 kgs heroin. He was also arrested by Special Cell for possessing 865 gms cocaine in the year 2009.

After the arrest of his gang members Deepak Pandey, Paramjeet Singh and Devender Pal Singh, by Special Cell, he had gone under ground to evade arrest.

During interrogation, he revealed that he came to India in 2002 on a business Visa and joined the drug smuggling in company of his fellow countrymen, working as a carrier, the officer said.

He was involved in smuggling of the drug 'ice' prepared from Amphetamine to other countries, with the help of his associates and further investigation to unearth the whole network is on progress, added the officer.
