BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi condemned the Maoist attack on the CRPF, saying that anti-national forces cannot be allowed to derail Chhattisgarh's development journey.

"We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Chhattisgarh. Anti-national forces can't be allowed to derail the state's development journey," Modi tweeted.

Modi also paid homage to soldiers who laid down their lives fighting against insurgents.

"We salute the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the nation," he tweeted after the Maoist attack which killed 16 people, including 11 CRPF men, in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

"Brutal killing of security personnel in Chhattisgarh is despicable. No words can be enough to condemn such acts," Modi tweeted.

"Condolences to their families. Our prayers are with the injured", Modi tweeted.
