Narinder Chauhan sworn-in as HP chief information commissioner

Narinder Chauhan today took oath as chief information commissioner of Himachal Pradesh, a post lying vacant for the last 14 months.

Sushil Chandra Srivastava also took oath as information commissioner on the occasion at Rajbhawan in the presence of Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Chief Secretary V C Pharka conducted the proceedings of the ceremony.

The post of CIC had fallen vacant in April 2016 following completion of term of Bhim Sen.

Information commissioner K D Batish also demitted office on June 6 and the commission was left member less.

Himachal Pradesh assembly Speaker B B L Butail, Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri were also present on the occasion.
 

Meanwhile, Governor Devvrat, who is also the Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, has appointed Prof. R S Chauhan as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the HPU for another term of three years or till the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.

He will also hold additional charge of the vice chancellor of the university till the appointment of new Vice Chancellor.
