Union Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy Anil Swarup today said that the Union government has developed a student assessment system called the National Achievement Survey.
"The NAS is independently conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) across the country for classes III, V, VIII & X," Swarup told reporters here.
With his department's sole aim to provide quality education to every child, a stress has been given on a clear-cut action plan, he said.

Swarup said he had travelled to over 21 states in the four months and he found the status of school education to be overall good.
"I discovered good practices still prevailing in many schools in different parts of the country," the Union secretary said.
