The Anti Corruption Bureau of Maharashtra police on Friday arrested the chairman of Nashik Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Shivaji Chumbhale while allegedly taking bribe from an employee.
Chumbhale, who is a local Shiv Sena leader, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from the employee for his further appointment as a temporary contract laborer after his earlier work tenure expired.
After the employee lodged a complaint, ACB officials headed by Superintendent of Police Sunil Kadasane laid a trap and allegedly caught Chumbhale red-handed while accepting first installment of Rs 3 lakh, an official release said.
Further probe is on.
