Chairman of Nashik Industries and Manufactuers' Association Manish Kothari and general secretary Mangesh Patankar have met the district collector and requested him to take steps to start flight services from the recently inaugurated airport at Ojhar near here.

The industries and farm-produce exporters in the region were waiting for the airport to become operational for a long time, and it would also give a fillip to IT industry and tourism, they said, after meeting the collector yesterday.

The Nashik airport at Ojhar, 21 km from the city, was inaugurated three months ago before the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into effect, but flight services have not started yet.
