Police have arrested three persons including two brothers, resident of Babhulgaon in Nashik district, for setting afire a 65-year-old woman for not voting a particular candidate in the Assembly election on October 15.

The victim was identified as Zendubai Wabale.

Ashok Barnare poured kerosene on her outside her house last evening and his brother Pandurang threw a burning match-stick while Nandkishor Bhusak held her down, Yeola police said.

Wabale received 80 per cent burn injuries and was being treated at Nashik Civil Hospital, police said.

In her statement last night, she said they set her on fire for not voting for the candidate on 'number 2' on the EVM.

Former Maharashtra PWD minister and NCP stalwart Chhagan Bhujbal is among the candidates who are standing from Yeola constituency. However police said it was not yet known who the candidate on 'number 2' was.
