A 28-year-old youth has allegedly been kidnapped from here by unidentified persons on pretext of offering him a job in a Gulf country, police said today.

According to the complaint filed by Gaurav Sandhanshiv's sister, he was last seen receiving a call on his mobile phone on the morning of September 3 at their home in Kapad Peth here following which he rushed out and is missing since then, police said.

In her complaint the sister of the youth has alleged that Gaurav may have been converted to Islam by those who promised him a job in Kuwait, Sarkarwada police station inspector Hemant Suryavanshi said.

A case has been registered against unknown persons under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement, kidnapped or abducted person) of IPC after a complaint was lodged on Sunday night, he said.

A friend of Gaurav had told his sister that of late he had made friends with some people who were helping him find a job. The friend also told her about finding 150 Kuwaiti dinars and receipt of a financial company in Gaurav's bag, the police officer said.

"Gaurav was staying in Thane. He used to tell his family that he would get a job in a packaging industry based in Kuwait. He had come to Nashik to meet his parents," Suryavanshi said quoting the complaint.

Further investigations in the case are in progress, the officer added.
