Defending champion Dhvaj Haria of Gujarat and Jagadesh B from Tamil Nadu sailed into the qaurterfinals of the junior boys' billiards category after registering easy wins over their respective opponents in the National Billiards and Snooker Championship, here today.

Haria continued his winning spree in the junior section, scripting a facile 423-179 win over Maharashtra's Rajwardhan Joshi while last year's runner-up Jagadesh carved out an easy 314-129 win against Bharath Sharma of Haryana.

Haria, who had wrested the title at Gwalior nationals last year, proved too tough to handle for Joshi, who was no match for his opponent.

However, the day's biggest highlight was the victory of Maharashtra's Ishpreet Chadha, who defeated Tanurag Gautam of Chandigarh 547-198.

In snooker, Punjab's Shobhit Sethi scored a straight frame 3-0 win against Mandeep Singh of Uttar Pradesh, while Gurdit Singh of Delhi also won by an identical margin against Md Saif Khan of West Bengal.

Odisha's Ashutosh Padhey, who had a golden double in the sub-junior category yesterday when he claimed both snooker and billiards title, continued his dream run in the tournament, beating Sahil Nayyar of Punjab 148-290 to move into the quarters.
