National Dussehra fair kicks off in Kota

The National Dussehra Fair was kicked off here on Thursday with formal inauguration by Kota mayor Dr Ratna Jain along with the chairman of Kota Dussehra Mela committee and other civic officials.

The nine-day-long Navratra festival concluded with the offering of sweets to girl children by devotees today.

Anand Patani, chairman of Kota Dussehra Mela committee told a series of events would be organised during the fair that would end on October 20.

Classical music programme, Kavi Sammellan, Mushayara, moustache competition would be the attractions of the fair.

Bhajan night, Bhojpuri night, Sindhi programme, turban tying competition would also be organised during the fair, he said.
 

Tourism department would organize a cultural event and the Fair would end on October 20 with lightening of fire crackers, Patni further added.

Special security measures including setting up of CCTV cameras has been done by Kota police for the fair.

According to police officials, the main entrance gates and main market, parking sites of the fair would be under CCTV vigilance.

About 1,200 police personnel would be deployed at the fair, acting Superintendent of Police, Manish Agrawal told reporters here.

Meanwhile, on the concluding day of Navratra today, thousands of devotees thronged nearby temples at Bijasan Mata Mandir and Rakt Dantika Mata temple at Satoor.

Devotees dressed up girl children as goddesses and offered them food and gifts at their homes with the men, women and even children concluding their nine-day-fasts.
