President Pranab Mukherjee will give away more than 80 awards in both non-feature and feature film category including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award at the 61st national film awards function to be held on May 3.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today said the Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2013 will be conferred on veteran film lyricist, director and poet Gulzar at the function to be held at Vigyan Bhavan.
"A total of 41 awards are to be given by the President in the non-feature film category while the number of awards in feature film category is 40. Three awards are to be given to Best Writing on Cinema," the statement said.

The Dadasaheb Phalke award consists of a Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus), a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs and a shawl. This year, a seven-member jury consisting of eminent artists unanimously recommended Gulzar for the prestigious award, the statement said.
Ship of Theseus directed by Anand Gandhi has been given the Swarn Kamal and Rs 2.5 lakhs in the best feature film category, the Indira Gandhi Award for best debut film of a director has been given to 'Fandry (Marathi)' directed by Nagraj Manjule, the statement said.
