National research centre for maize in Bihar: Anwar

A proposal for setting up a national research centre for maize was under consideration by his department under the 12th plan for which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been requested to make available 100 acres of land in the district, he told reporters here.

Anwar said he was optimistic that the state government will explore availability of land for the national research centre for maize.

The Union minister recapitulate the Centre's stand to provide all required assistance to the state government for implementation of the agriculture road map for development of farming as a core economic sector in the state.

 

The agriculture development in Bihar will go a long way in realising the centre's vision for ushering in a second green revolution in the country with the eastern states being the hub of such a revolution, he said.
