The government has constituted a National Steering Committee for scientific validation to evaluate the role of 'Panchygavya' - a concoction of cow urine mixed with cow dung, milk, curd and ghee in curing diseases, the Lok Sabha was today informed.

In a written response to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan said the programme is coordinated by Centre for Rural Development and Technology, IIT Delhi.

"This centre is coordinating with universities and institutions for formulation of various R&D projects for funding agencies of government of India," Vardhan said, adding that no specific budget has been allocated for this purpose.

"However, project proposals submitted are funded by existing R&D scheme," he added.

Incidentally, the NDA government has also instituted Science and Technology of Yoga and Meditation (SATYAM) programme to investigate the effect of Yoga and meditation on physical and mental health and wellbeing, body, brain, and mind in terms of basic processes and mechanisms.
