The National surfing championship, which was scheduled to be held here from May 29 to 31, has been postponed.
The event has been postponed because of gram panchayat election on May 29, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said in a press release here today.
The event has been re-scheduled to be held from October 22 to 25.

Since preparations for the championship are at an advanced stage, the Surfing Federation of India had expressed disappointment over the postponement.
Over 60 participants had registered for the championship, which was supposed to held for the first time in Karnataka.
Rammohan Paranjape, Vice-President of the Federation told reporters here that the organisers had not sought any government funding for the event and he hoped it would be held in October.
