A three-day National Youth Festival organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) began in Noida today to help the youth understand their potential and encourage them to contribute to the society in a more effective manner.

Around 400 Red Cross volunteers from across the country participated in the festival which aims to give the volunteers direction towards self-sufficiency and sustainability.

A statement issued by the Indian Red Cross Society said, "This interactive festival will see exchange of thoughts between the volunteers and the experts from Red Cross and other sectors as well."

The event is a mix of educational-cum-cultural extravaganza with each state performing dance, theatre or music. It would culminate with a award ceremony during the valedictory function.

Joint Secretary of IRCS Manish Choudhary said National Youth Festival is a short-term booster to not only create a platform wherein the Youth Red Cross volunteers interact with their counterparts from across the country, but also to create a synergy among them to complete various knowledge building tasks.

The volunteers would also get an opportunity to meet with entrepreneur Ritesh Malik, Para-Badminton athlete Umesh Vikram Kumar and film actor Angad Singh Bedi among others.
