Natural rubber production rose by 20 per cent to 60,000 tonnes in September while consumption increased by 3.6 per cent to 84,500 tonnes last month.
Production and consumption of natural rubber stood at 50,000 tonnes and 81,600 tonnes, respectively, in the year-ago period.
According to Rubber Board data, imports increased by 24 per cent to 52,833 tonnes during September, from 42,713 tonnes in the same month last year. Exports went up 221 tonnes, from 25 tonnes during the period under review.

The consumption grew 5.6 per cent to 518,930 during April-September of this fiscal, from 4,91,260 tonnes in the year-ago period, the data showed.
Imports went up by 6.5 per cent to 2,50,275 tonnes in the first half of this fiscal, from 2,34,887 tonnes in the same period of the previous year. Exports increased to 516 tonnes, from 233 tonnes during the year-ago period.
