Naval NCC cadets complete 10-day sailing expedition

A group of 60 naval NCC cadets today completed a 10-day sailing expedition from New Farakka Barrage to Kolkata.

Set off on September 6, the expedition covered a distance of 430 km traversing Jangipur, Berhampore, Katwa, Kalna, Chinchura and Dakshineswar.

The cadets also carried with them social messages of 'Clean Ganga' and 'Save the Girl Child' to the large cross-section of the local population during their halts enroute, a release said.

Lt Gen Raman Dhawan, GOC Bengal Area and Maj Gen Shyam Shrivastava, Additional DG, NCC West Bengal & Sikkim flagged-in the expedition at Princep Ghat today.

The expedition which included 20 senior wing girl cadets was led by Cdr Rakesh Kaushik, Commanding Officer, 1 Naval Unit NCC of the NCC Directorate, West Bengal and Sikkim.
