Navaratna PSU Nalco has

sanctioned Rs 107.94 crore for Koraput district to be used for peripheral development under its corporate social Responsibility programme.

The administration had sent a list of projects to Nalco for approval. In this connection the funds have been allocated under its CSR programme by the aliminium major, whose refinery is located at Damanjodi in Koraput district, a senior official said.

While a CT scan machine worth around Rs 4 crore will be procured for the district headquarters hospital, three ultrasound machines one each for Pottangi, Laxmipur and Borigumma community health centres will be purchased from the funds, he said.
 

Also, the funds will be used for the construction of as many as 400 anganwadi centres and 100 additional classrooms in various schools of the district.

To ease out the communication problem of residents of Dasmantpur block a bridge over River Muram to connect Duarsuni and Girligumma panchayats with a cost of around Rs 30 crore. Another bridge over River Saberi will be constructed Tentuligumma and Dandabadi under Boipariguda block, said the official.
