Navas Meeran, Chairman of the Eastern Group of companies, one of the major condiment manufacturers from South India, has been elected as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) southern region.
Navas is the second Kerala-based Entrepreneur selected to the post in the last two decades.
Talking to reporters, Navas said his first priority would be to set up an entrepreneurs grooming institute to catapult South India's industrial growth to the next horizon.

"We would set up an organisation to groom first generation businessmen/women very soon", he said, adding "the organisation will work along with them to make them successful in business."
The organisation is in the process of setting up startup villages for women entrepreneurs. The idea is to groom over 1,500 business women going forward, he said adding CII would be focussing on the Corporate Social Responsibly (CSR) activities of the Kerala-based companies.
