Ahead of the urban local body polls and general elections, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inducted Odia cinestar Anubhav Mohanty in the ruling BJD.

"I am delighted that Anubhav Mohanty, our famous film star, has joined the Biju Janata Dal. This will give us a tremendous boost in the state particularly amongst young people," Patnaik said.

Former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirkey was also present beside Patnaik when he declared Anubhav's name.

Expressing gratitude to Patnaik, Anubhav said, "I am a fan of this party and our CM. I am definitely going to work for the people."

BJD had earlier inducted another Odia film actor Siddhant Mohapatra just before the 2009 elections and made him an MP from the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat in Ganjam district.

Veteran cinestar Prashant Nanda had joined the BJD in June last year after severing ties with the NCP.
