Naveen went down to Bashir Bajanzadeh of Iran in the 130kg Greco-Roman category to lose out on a bronze medal on the final day of the Senior Asian Wrestling championship in Doha today.

Naveen defeated Hayder Abdulraheem Ghareeb Kaabi of Iraq 12-3 in his repechage bout to make it to the bronze-medal play-off.

But in the third-fourth place bout, the Iranian wrestler proved to be too strong for Naveen as he defeated the Indian 0-11 and prevented him from making it to the podium.

Earlier, the heavyweight Indian grappler got the better of Hanisalah Almarafi of Jordan 6-4 in the qualification round but went down to Nurmakhan Tinaliyev of Kazakhstan 1-9 in the quarterfinal.

But Tinaliyev's victory in the semifinal made way for Naveen to enter the repechage round, which he won comfortably.

Meanwhile, in the 80kg category, Narsingh Pancham Yadav reported not well, according to the Wrestling Federation of India.

Narsingh hence lost to China's Aishan Aisha by injury default in his quarterfinal bout but got a chance to fight in the bronze-medal play-off as his Chinese opponent reached the final.

But Yadav's injury once again let him down in the bronze medal round also.

Other Indians in the fray in the Greco-Roman category today failed to make it to the medal round.

While Rajneesh went down to Pan Zheng of China 0-8 in the quarterfinal of 66kg category, Daulet Zhaxilykov defeated Parveen Rana 10-2 in the qualification round of 75kg division.

In 98kg division, Hardeep lost to Norikatsu Saikawa of Japan 0-8 in the qualification round to bow out of the competition.
