Naveen Patnaik dedicates 100 new bridges to people of Odisha

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated 100 new bridges and 75 rural pipelines projects built under Biju Setu scheme to the people of Odisha at a function here.

These 100 bridges will benefit 16 lakh people covering 345 gram panchayats besides the 75 pipe water projects that will provide safe drinking water to 1.5 lakh people, Patnaik said.

The Biju Setu Yojana was launched in 2011 to provide connectivity to villages across the state. Under this project, 481 bridges have already been completed while work on 382 is in progress.

"Decision has also been taken to construct another 153," Patnaik said, adding, the state government is dedicating various projects every month as part of the Biju centenary celebrations.
 

The chief minister also unveiled the logo of the Biju Setu scheme on the occasion.
