Navy men arrested for molestation remanded to judicial custody

A local court today remanded five Indian Navy men, arrested for allegedly molesting a young female banker and attacking her husband in a pub in suburban Khar on Saturday night, to judicial custody until May 12.

The Khar police in suburban Mumbai had on Sunday arrested Maheshwar Mahendra Singh (26), Ashish Jaikishan (29) Tirthnath Dilpanath (25) Sham Bhandare (29) and Chandan Mishra (26) -- all Class IV Indian Navy personnel.

The accused were booked for unlawful assembly, rioting, molestation and wrongful constraint.

According to the police, one of the accused allegedly made lewd remarks at the banker after which a heated argument ensued between them and her husband.
