Security forces busted a Naxal camp following an encounter in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Kanker district today, police said.

The skirmish took place in a forest between Parredodo and Kattipani villages in Dudhawa area, 200 km from Raipur, a local police official said.

A joint team of state police's Special Task Force (STF) and district police had launched a combing operation last night after getting a tip-off about presence of senior Maoist cadres in the area.

The exchange of fire began after the team spotted and encircled a Maoist camp.

After the rebels fled into the forest, eight bags, four steel drums, a solar plate, electric wire, medicines and commodities of daily use were recovered from the spot, the police official said.

The combing operation has been intensified in the region to nab the Naxals, he added.
