Naxal commander surrenders in Telangana

A Maoist deputy commander of CPI(ML) group, carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, surrendered before police here today.

Addressing a press conference this morning, Karimnagar Superintendent of Police, D Joel Davis said the surrendered Maoist--Katrevula Lingaiah alias Mallesh was involved in as many as 15 offences which include murder of two police constables in Chattisgarh.

He was also involved in the brutal murder of three villagers suspecting them to be informers in Duddeda and Annaram villages in Telangana region.

According to police, the 24-year-old outlaw hailing from Rapelli Kota in Mahadevpur mandal, was also involved in cases of extortion and arson in the region.
 

Mallesh, who joined the Maoist group in 2010 was elevated to the post of Deputy Commander in 2014 but he decided to surrender due to ill health, the SP said, adding he will be rehabilitated as per the state policy.
