Naxal held in Chhattisgarh, IED recovered

A Naxal carrying a reward of Rs 30,000 was today arrested and an IED seized from him in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bastar district, police said.

Acting on a specific input, Budhram Madkami was arrested by a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and district force from Kapanar village forests under Darbha police station limits, Bastar Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav told PTI.

Following information about arrival of two-three cadres for a meeting with villagers in Kapanar area, located around 400 kms away from here, security forces were mobilised towards the region, the SP said.

On sensing security personnel, Budhram tried to escape from the spot but he was caught after a short chase while others managed to flee, he said, adding the IED weighed 4 kg.
 

He was allegedly involved in eight incidents of naxal crimes, including loot, attempt to murder, damaging railway tracks and dismantling government property, the officer said.
