A Naxal, who was allegedly involved in an attack on a polling party during the Lok Sabha elections in Bastar region, was today arrested from Maoist-hit Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh.

Jaeet Ram Korram (28), chief of Padeli Janatana Sarkar group of CPI(Maoist), was nabbed from the forests between Padeli and Nawagaon villages by a team of local police, Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Surjit Atri told PTI.

During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in firing on Padeli polling booth during last month's parliamentary polls following improvised explosive device blasts near the polling station, he said.

No one was injured or killed in that incident.

A native of Mardapal region, Jaeet was elevated to the post of chief of Padeli Janatana Sarkar group in 2011 and since then he was handling all operations of the banned outfit.

He was involved in several incidents of crime, including loot, arson, murder and attacks on police party in the region, the ASP said.

He was produced before a local court of Kondagaon which sent him in judicial custody.
