Naxalites demand levy from brick kiln owners in Sasaram

Around two dozen Naxalites stormed brick kilns in Kanchanpur village and beat up its workers besides demanding levy from their owners in Rohtas district of Bihar, the police said today.

Sasaram Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Alok Ranjan confirmed the incident and said that around two dozen Naxalites belonging to Tritita Prastuti Committee (TPC) raided five brick kilns yesterday and left a piece of paper behind them bearing the phone number of a person named Rohit. The brick kiln owners were asked to contact him with regard to payment of levy.

The incident occurred at Kanchanpur village under Mufassil police station of the district.
 

An FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the kiln owners, the SDPO said adding that massive raids are being conducted to nab the Naxalites.

The police have also deployed security personnel at the kilns, he said.
