Two persons - a man and his nephew - were killed allegedly by armed Naxals who suspected them to be police informers.

Manohar Aatla (55) and his nephew Ramesh (27), residents of village Chichoda in Dhanora taluka, were shot dead last night, police said today.

According to police, the two civilians were killed by the Naxals to take revenge for the death of their female colleague Jyoti Gawade.

Gawade, a 'deputy commander', was shot dead by Gadchiroli Police in an anti-Naxal operation in the Bothejhari -Wadgaon forests on January 5, police said.

The ultras suspected Manohar and Ramesh had provided information about her movements to the police, they said.

A group of Maoists barged in their house, dragged them out and shot them dead, police said.

Half a dozen persons have been killed by the rebels in Gadchiroli district in the last 15 days.
