Naxals kill villager in on suspicion of being police informer

The body of Fagu Markaam wasfound yesterday in the forests of Orchha police stationlimits with his throat slit, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

Preliminary investigation showed that Markam, a native of Lubha Labha village under Makdi police station area of the neighbouring Kondagaon district, was suffering from some kind of mental illness, the SP said.

Prima facie it appears that he might have strayed into Orchha region- a Naxal hotbed and was murdered by the ultras on suspicion of being a police informer, the SP said.
 

Following the incident, a police team was rushed to the spot, he said adding that the body has been handed over to his relatives after the post mortem.

A combing has been launched in the region to nab the assailants, Meena added.
